Are you passionate about film and storytelling? Whether you’re unemployed, employed, or self-employed, our free two week Digital Filmmaking Skills Bootcamp offers the opportunity to learn from industry experts, gain hands-on experience, and take your creative ambitions to the next level.

This fully funded programme is designed to bridge skills gaps and help people across Calderdale develop the technical and creative confidence to work in film and digital media.

WHEN: 2nd-13th February 2026 (Mondays-Fridays, 10am-5pm)

  • Across the 10-day programme you will:

    • Explore all stages of digital filmmaking — from concept and pre-production to filming, editing, and post-production.

    • Hear directly from award-winning trainers and working industry professionals.

    • Work collaboratively in a supportive, creative environment.

    • Develop a career or business plan tailored to your goals.

    • Gain access to a first interview or pitching opportunity with industry partners.

    You’ll take part in workshops and guest sessions with industry professionals, all designed to help you produce a short film.

  • This Skills Bootcamp is free for eligible learners and open to:
    - Adults aged 19 or over
    - Residents of the Calderdale area
    - Those with a creative background, looking to upskill, retrain, or develop professionally in the film, TV or creative industries

    No previous professional experience is required - just enthusiasm, creativity and the drive to learn.

  • The film and screen industries are expanding rapidly, but breaking in, or advancing your career, requires practical skills, industry knowledge, and professional connections. This Skills Bootcamp is designed to help you:

    • Develop production skills across different roles and departments using accessible, budget-friendly equipment

    • Learn high-concept, low-budget filmmaking techniques you can apply with the technology you already have

    • Build a professional portfolio with real-world project experience

    • Connect with industry professionals and understand how the sector works

    Led by Cinemateca's experienced trainers and working industry professionals, you'll get hands-on experience, learn how to create quality work without expensive kit, and gain the skills and confidence to start making films straight away.
